We've noticed that while there are some good Airsoft gun reviews out
there, there really isn't just one site that
has a review of all of them. We're trying to get a full list of reviews
based not only on our own first-hand experiences
with the equipment but also information from other reviews in order
to give you the best overall opinions of all airsoft
weapons. E-mail us - let us know what you

Electric Guns
Automatic Electric Guns, or AEGs as they are often called, are Airsoft
guns that operate off electricity.
This electricity comes in the form of an RC car battery pack, which
drives a motor which, in turn,
drives a complex gear train which draws back and releases a piston,
forcing air down
the barrel of the gun and propelling a BB out of the barrel. Efficient
and powerful, but quite expensive,
they represent the main 'image' of Airsoft, built on a 1 to 1 scale
to several popular rifles and submachine guns
from all around the world.

Gas Guns
Gas-powered guns can be found in many different [and often exotic] varieties.
However, the most popular
and realistic gas-powered guns are the Gas Blowbacks, or GBBs as they
are called, which operate on
liquefied HFC-series gas which is injected into a reservoir or magazine.
Equipped with a blowback 'recoil'
effect, these are popular guns among many collectors and have made
appearances in some movies like Ronin.
Also available are gas-powered rifles or machine guns, which operate
in a similar manner.

Spring Guns
Spring powered guns cover a shockingly wide range, from cheap, 20-dollar
spring pistols you can find on eBay
to beautiful, expensive, and fearsome spring-cocking rifles like the
Sun Project M40A1 or PDI SOCOM M24,
and are among the most cost-effective guns available, without gas or
batteries to worry about. Also popular are
the Marui-born spring-cocking shotguns, which fire 3 BBs at a time
in a triangular formation through a highly
sophisticated mechanism. With a good spring gun in hand, you can skirmish
all day while everyone else hassles
with extra batteries and gas cans.

Ammunition
The BBs which fuel Airsoft guns come in all shapes, weights, and sizes.
However, there is a high variance
between brands where reliability, quality, and consistency come into
play. In order to review these BBs, we
take 100 random BBs from a package of each brand and examine them for
burrs, mold markings,
or other deformities that affect performance and could potentially
damage an Airsoft gun. From this information
we take a "purity rating," 100% meaning the BBs are flawless. Bear
in mind however, that only using 100
random BBs from a package will not ensure a consistent result for the
entire brand, but the information we provide
can be a useful guideline.
